About

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), with 10 years experience providing psychotherapy to adolescents, adults and families. I am experienced supporting a range of mental health related issues, including depression, anxiety, mood disorders and trauma from a perspective inclusive of multiculturalism, sex positivity and LGBTQIA+ identities.

I value building strong partnerships with clients to promote insight into the uniqueness of their mental health, illuminate how they create meaning out of their experiences and strive to live intentionally. Through non-judgemental self reflection in sessions, I enjoy helping clients gain insight into their struggles, strengths and motivation for change in order to better navigate stressors, relationships and life transitions. In team leadership, I strive to help foster an authentic, inclusive and collaborative environment encouraging mental health providers and staff to tap into creativity and enthusiasm for their work.

I began my career working with survivors of sexual abuse, assault and intimate partner violence, and am passionate about helping clients understand and recover from trauma. I conducted skills groups as part of an adolescent and adult intensive outpatient program and grief and loss groups with older adults living in retirement communities. I am also experienced working with clients recovering from substance use, eating disorders and body image struggles. I appreciate you reading this over, and look forward to meeting you if you decide to move forward with therapy!

Therapeutic Approach

Eclectic Mix of CBT, Mindfulness, Gestalt, Solution focused, EMDR

About

I work with many Asian American issues and enjoy helping queer and transgender patients through various challenges, including the coming out process, self-acceptance, or transitions. My approach uses an eclectic mix of cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, mindfulness, and Gestalt principles.

I was born and raised in Southern California. I come from a large Taiwanese-American family where second and third cousins were considered close. Like many children from immigrant families, I struggled with living with the Western rules and customs I experienced with the traditions of my parents’ Eastern upbringing. I am fortunate to have parents willing to hear me complain and question the rules and customs we followed, leading me into therapy to help people who share similar experiences.

One of the most vital aspects of effective therapy is the relationship between therapist and patient. Theoretically, I work from psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral backgrounds, although the treatment plans and interventions I use are unique to the person I am working with. About

College, both undergraduate and graduate, is a time of discovery, exploration, learning, and making new friends and mentors. It can also be a time of personal and emotional confusion, upheaval, feeling disconnected from others, or maybe it’s just not quite the experience we hoped for. Undoubtedly, college is a critical time in our lives and can impact our sense of who we are for years. My approach is informed by cognitive behavioral therapy, existential psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, and psychodynamic therapy. I am a proud “cat dad” of three black cats. I love to travel and play tennis. I am also fluent in French.

Kailey Waring

Office Manager

She/her/hers

About

Hi! My name is Kailey and I am the Office Manager at the Mindpath College Health Irvine location! I was born and raised in Southern California and recently graduated from UC Santa Barbara. I am honored to be able to serve the UC Irvine and surrounding community, as my academic and work experience leading up to this position has been focused on advocating and destigmatizing mental health in the college student community.

One of these experiences included participating in the Mental Health Advocacy internship at the Mindpath College Health Isla Vista location during my senior year at UC Santa Barbara. This amazing opportunity is what guided me towards becoming an Admin Assistant at our Irvine location, which lead to my promotion as Office Manager. I love working with such a warm and supportive team and getting to know our clients. We can’t wait to meet you! In the meantime until we meet, you can usually find me practicing yoga and checking out new coffee shops (COVID permitting)!
